Luang Prabang

One of Southeast Asia's most charming cities

UNESCO listed since 1995 the former royal capital has a wealth of history, beautiful riverside setting and a laid back charm. Considered the spiritual heart of the country it's an enchanting place to spend a few days.  It boasts a host of gilded temples located amongst colonial buildings.  At dawn saffron-robed monks can be seen passing through the streets to collect alms.  In the evening the town comes alive with the night market selling a wide range of handicrafts.

Vang Vieng

Vang Vieng

A landscape of towering karst peaks

Located between Luang Prabang and Vientiane, this small town set on the banks of the Nam Song River is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in Asia. For many years the town was most popular for backpackers but over recent years this has changed becoming a haven for outdoor pursuits including cycling, trekking and kayaking.

Vientiane

Asia's smallest capital city

Laos capital Vientiane is Asia's smallest capital city. Having changed over the last decade. It no longer has its backwater feel although evidence of its French-rules of the past can still be seen in the French colonial architecture and Laos' own Arc de Triomphe, the central Patuxai monument.  The city offers interesting temples, a riverside night market and excellent local restaurants and shops.
